Crocosmia (Montbretia)

A native of South Africa
A genus of cormous perennials
Grows from 60cm to 1.2m (largest variety)
Leaves are lance shaped, pleated or ribbed
Flowers are in spikes followed by attractive seed capsules
Flowers come in red, yellow or orange
Prefers sun in well drained soil
Very good cut flower and a low allergen plant
Propagate from division in spring or seed in autumn
Divide clumps when they become too dense
